Cheap Bike Lights - Be Safe and Be Seen

People need to remember that being safe on your bike is important not only to you but also any other road users. Buying accessories for your bicycle should not be expensive and there are plenty of cheap bike lights and other pieces of equipment to help. In this article we will mainly focus on the lights and how you should use them to protect yourself.

If you have been riding bikes for sometime then you will know how important it is to make sure that you can be seen at all times by other road users, this especially applies when the mornings and nights are dark or you ride in the twilight. Some top tips that you should follow when you buy your lights mainly follow common sense but many people do fail to follow them. Firstly always make sure you have a front and a back light, the back light will always be red and the front light will be white or clear. The lights should be positioned on the bike in easy to see areas and should be clear of any obstructions such as saddle bags, pumps or water bottles. Always position the front light at the top of the bike on the handle bar area and have the beam pointing straight ahead of you, the rear light should be either under the saddle area (if not obstructed) or should be to one side, if the rear light is on one side then ensure this is on the right side of your bike as you sit on it. The reason for this is any traffic coming down the road will see the light on the furthest point into the road which will make avoiding you easier.

Make sure that your lights are suitable for the bike that you have bought, there are cheap bike lights that can be bought today and most are universal for any bike. Depending on how much you pay for your lights can reflect the quality of the brightness and the durability. Cheap bike lights can be just as effective as expensive ones if you are on a tight budget and there are many different varieties that you can choose from. If you can afford to then it would be advised to purchase some of the mid range or more expensive lights, they often tend to be longer lasting and the beam will omit a more powerful light range. However even if you have a limited budget never ride your bike in the dark without the lights even if you are not riding on the roads.
