Make the Tricycle Your Child's First Ride-On Toy

With so many cool new toys out there today both online and in stores, it is hard to decide what your child may be ready for in terms of ride-ons. Tricycles are a timeless classic that many parents gravitate towards as their infant becomes a toddler. A lot of the tricycles today can be ridden indoors and out giving your child something to play on through all the seasons no matter where you may live.

I think a lot of us parents are looking for toys that also promote active children. Everyone is well aware of the obesity issue we face in our country and are willing to step outside of the box when it comes to gifts. No more video games, computer games, and other types of tech games. More and more parents are willing to go back to the classics such as ride-on toys. Tricycles are perfect for a first ride-on toy, and there are many to choose from both online and in stores.

A couple of brands that I favor for children are Airflow, Sky King, Dirt King, Radio Flyer, and Kettler. Any one of these brands easily makes a great gift and delivers in all aspects. I suggest doing your research. Some people find a brand they like and become repeat buyers specifically because of that brand. What works for one person may not necessarily work for another. Read product reviews, testimonials, and the website's feedback if they have it for public view.

Price, may also be a huge factor when purchasing a tricycle. There are many "cheap" styles that look appealing because of the price but will fail in the long term. The brands I listed above far surpass many other brands. However, they do come at a higher price. Depending on the brand and style these children's tricycles can range in price from $95 to a very expensive $400. Again, I say shop around and do your research. A lot of websites out there will do promotions, sales, and discounts. The more expensive the tricycle depends too on the target or demographic. The $400 tricycles may be adult or teen tricycles so you must read the description before purchasing if you are looking for a tricycle specifically for your toddler. Honestly, the price of the tricycles may be the only downfall, but when it comes to longevity most of these tricycles are a good investment.

Tricycles make excellent first ride-on toys for your little ones. They are not too big and heavy like some of the other pedal car styles of ride-ons. Also, they offer the pedal power unlike the push powered ride-ons for smaller children. Your child gets a step in the right direction towards their health as well. Tricycles help promote the healthy and active lifestyle. They get your child moving and will likely motivate them to play outdoors more. Most of the tricycles and brands I listed above have so many great features for the child's safety and parents' peace of mind. They feature solid rubber tires, not plastic. This allows for better grip on different types of pavement. Not only that, but the rubber handle grips make it easier for your little one to hold on and maneuver the tricycles.

The brands I listed, except the dirt king, are mostly made of a solid steel construction. This construction can hold up to a young child's activity level, and wear and tear will not be visible for quite some time. These tricycles have sealed ball bearings and are toy safety approved, which is extremely important. When shopping around you want to make sure that you are buying a toy safety approved tricycle. Further adding to the comfort and safety of the tricycles are adjustable seating, working light, and reflectors. Not all tricycles have these features. I strongly recommend finding those that have adjustable seats and reflectors. Reflectors are very important if riding outside. Adult supervision is required at all times. The adjustable seat keeps your child comfortable and ensures that they can ride their tricycles more than just one year. With an adjustable seat, the tricycles can grow with them, which is another reason why it makes an appropriate first ride-on toy.

You get your moneys worth when you do your research and shop for a quality tricycle that will give your child years and years of play. With the quality steel construction on most of these tricycles, they will last until your child has a child. They make great memories and family heirlooms!
